Biography

Gary Wong, aka Chun-Fung Wong, is a Guqin (古琴) scholar resided in greater Melbourne, Australia.

 

Born and grew up in Hong Kong, Gary learnt Chinese instrument since his kids days.  He won the Champion in the School Music Festival - YangQin solo in the advanced group in 1990.  That was the first musical milestone he achieved in his life. On the other hand, he developed huge interest in the world of black and white stones devoted himself into self learning the Game of Go since high school.

In 2006, he was awarded 6-dan from the Nippon Ki-in in Japan.

In 2010, Gary started to learn Guqin under Dr. Tse Chun-Yan, a renown Guqin scholar in Hong Kong.  Gradually becoming the next generation of Guqin promoters, Gary decided to move to Australia in 2021.  Since then he is keen to bring the culture of the 4 Chinese Arts over to Down Under, the Qin and Go.
